Darin Simonian has been involved in the financial and tax business dating back to his sophomore year of college. While attending Whittier College and majoring in Business and Accounting (’86) he worked for three years at the local CPA firm in Whittier. That experience helped him gain a job at the international CPA firm Arthur Young & CO (Now Ernst & Young), as an auditor in the Los Angeles office. After three years and achieving his CPA designation, he was selected to be part of the elite Mergers and Acquisition department. One year later and after four years in public accounting he was lured away to work for David Murdock (Pacific Holding Company) as a financial analyst on acquisitions for the Billionaire’s personal holding company. The experience at PHC helped him understand corporate valuations and high net worth tax strategies. After two years at PHC the M&A activity slowed and in 1991 Darin decided to enter the investment advisory business to pursue his passion.
Darin initially formed a partnership with his longtime friend who was also a former tax attorney at EY to form a powerful high net worth practice. This partnership at FFR Advisory, LLC existed until 1996 when Darin moved from West Los Angeles to Irvine to get married to Pam his wife of 20 years. So now after close to 33 years in the financial field (28 years as an investment advisor) Darin is well equipped to personally manage his client’s financial affairs. Unlike other larger firms where the experienced founder hand’s off most of their work to young associates, Darin meets and talks regularly with all of his clients. Having three teenage daughters currently and being a native Californian Darin at age 55 is not retiring or leaving the state for many years to come. Darin is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a licensed CPA though the license is currently inactive as he is non-practicing.
